Arrowhead Lakes Remodel

Before & After

We were contacted by a couple from Oregon, that had just bought a vacation/retirement home here in Arrowhead Lakes. They had gotten my name from a good friend of mine after she was had met them in Starbucks. This home had belonged to an older man who was a DIY type guy and it needed a lot of updates and things they wanted to fix to fit their needs and wants.

I wish, as we do these full remodels we could video the process to show what it looks like in the beginning, during, followed by the end product. Pictures just sometimes do NOT do it justice. But here we go, let’s take a before and after tour.

We tore up all of the flooring and laid a dark wood flooring throughout, minus bedrooms which are carpet and bathrooms which are tile.

We are going to start as we walk into the front door. Two things we noticed right away…1) The beautiful lake and mountain views 2) the ugly pony walls and columns! We took out those pony walls/columns as well as a bar area and added huge sliding doors, which spanned 10’ high by 12’ long; this way they could see the top of the mountain when they walk in the front door.

Next, the kitchen/living room area. There was a wall with an opening in it separating the kitchen from the living room…why!? Yeah I know, not sure what they are thinking when building a home sometimes :) We took that out, but had to add a huge beam across the length of the ceiling to support the house. After taking down that wall it opening up the room so much and we are able to extend the cabinetry and island.

Now onto the guest bathroom…what can we say!? We took it from blah to oooooh lala! New cabinets, countertops, lighting and mirrors. The shower area we took out the bathtub and made it a walk in shower. Loving the accent wall in this shower and one of my favorite details…the tile drain!

And finally, one of my favorite parts of this house…the master bathroom. This master bathroom was/is huge. As you walk in there were double vanities to the left and straight ahead was a tub and the smallest shower EVER! To the left of the tub/shower was an open, useless space. We turned that space into another closet and took out the tub for a MASSIVE shower. I mean WOW! The sink area stayed the same layout, but we put in all new cabinets with a nice linen cabinet in the middle for extra storage. The full wall backsplash behind the sinks adds a great WOW FACTOR.

The list goes on with things we did to this house, it truly was a full gut job, complete with taking down walls.

Now this couple and their daily are enjoying their new second home while they visit. Today they are actually in quarantine here and enjoying it; working from their patio and fishing from the lake!
